Becoming Our Conscious Nation
We love what we do. Designing and producing world-class active-wear that lives up to the expectations of our community is something we’ve always been focused on. So, when we considered our approach to conscious fashion, we wanted to make meaningful changes throughout our business in order to protect the planet.
From design sketch to delivery, we wanted to minimise our environmental impact at every check-point. We acknowledged our responsibility to make significant improvements, and accepted this challenge. The issue we were faced with, that faces every fashion provider was: how do we maintain the trademark quality that our community expects from us, whilst minimising our impact on the environment? Fortunately for us, there are visionary leaders in this field, creating top-quality materials from certified sustainable sources and post-consumer waste, whom we were thrilled to take learnings from, and in-turn implement into our business and collections, almost immediately
This week we drop ‘The Strike Set’ featuring Vita Power by Carvico, a fabric pioneered in Italy made of ECONYL® regenerated Nylon, which boasts a 4-step closed loop regeneration process to:
RESCUE waste such as fishing nets and fabric scraps to reduce landfill from oceans globally.
REGENERATE the nylon to its original purity (the same standard as virgin nylon) through an impressive regeneration and purification process.
REMAKE the regenerated nylon into textile yarn
REIMAGINE into brand new products that hold the potential to be recycled infinitely (without ever losing their quality).
The eventual goal being; to create a circular system allowing all products containing ECONYL® to be introduced back into the recycling process.
Already appearing in our current offering is tanks and t-shirts created from a certified organic cotton, reducing the use of harmful irritants and toxins from the supply chain such as: synthetic pesticides, insecticides, herbicides and fertilisers
Far from stopping at the clothes on your back, we’ve stripped ourselves right down to the tags and packaging. Recycled cardboards and post-consumer waste plastics (rPet) will be introduced to all swing tags, and care labels will be comprised of 100% recycled yarns.
The Future Looks Bright
The sustainability journey for us has no end point, rather milestones. Our upcoming Q1 2020 collection incorporates Vita Power recycled fabric into nearly half our pieces, taking a big stride in the right direction. We’re proud of how far we’ve come on our mission so far to create considered, conscious fashion that our customers can wear with pride, but we’re not stopping there. Follow our next steps at Our Conscious Nation.
